FOUNDER

I’m Catherine Jane Norby. Raised in Dana Point, California, I have grew up perusing a life of adventure with my family. My parents have been taking me camping in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range since I was born while also ensuring I was taught how to surf and swim in the ocean. I have been curating stories since I was 16, which is when I started interviewing journalists I knew in my community, checking that I was on the right path for forging my own career. But what I learned from these interviews is there is no one set formula to accomplish a future, it is each of our individual drives to seek our own version of “freedom” that will set our paths and form us into who we are.

I started perusing a degree in journalism Northeastern University in 2019, which sent me abroad to London. I quickly felt out of place and mid-way through the semester began researching other options. After coming home, I dropped out at the last minute started over at Saddleback College and then transferred to California State University, Fullerton. In 2022 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in communications with concentration in journalism.

After finishing college, I crafted a very last-minute and under researched move from North Hollywood, California to Portland, OR. For now, I work in the outdoor retail industry.
