Catherine Norby

FOUNDER

My name is Catherine Norby, and I live to spend every free moment outside.

Raised in southern California under the guiding hand of my parents, I was encouraged to try every sport I could think of. It never took much for me to commit to something new.

I had two friends joining a Los Angeles marathon training team in middle school as well as a crush I was madly in-love with, so I got in as well.

I watched climbing documentaries with my dad in high school and joined a gym immediately after watching “Valley Uprising.”

I let a boyfriend take me mountain biking three weeks into dating and when he looked back as we hauled our bikes over a fallen tree, he saw me covered in dirt, sweat and bleeding cuts, grinning ear to ear.

I took my dad’s surfboard home on a whim and one wrong fall left me with a two inch gash and seven stitches in my foot; I went running back to the water within two weeks.

The sake of adventure drives everything I do. I write to share my experiences and with the hopes of encouraging readers to do the same.

Take the chance because it all works out one way or another. Crest the hill because though it hurts now, the view is always worth it. Find the joy because even the worst moments have lessons for us to take. Never take the sunrise for granted because anything can happen.

Today, I live in the bay area and work in the outdoor industry. I maximize the time between work to get outside, solo or with friends and family.

I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy writing them. Thank you.
